Baby Bloggy Boot Camp

This post is written by me on behalf of Liz Lange and Ergobaby.  Product was provided.

Eye spy an event that had been posted on Facebook about expecting moms and moms w/ children under the age of 6 months to attend Baby Bloggy Boot Camp. An instant email went out to the SIT GIRLS for more deets.

A mother of 2 now with the newest addition at the time being 2 months; I figured this was the perfect event to continue with my networking and socializing for 2014. Not to mention the event hitting home run; Baby Bloggy Boot Camp touched on many topics from creating compelling content for moms, tips on sponsorship(s), and becoming a mommy blogger.  Great topics, right!  I thought so. I mean I am a mommy and a blogger.

Baby BBC

Baby Bloggy Boot Camp was held in San Diego, Ca, at the Bahia Resort Hotel February 28th. bahiaNot only was this a perfect opportunity to keep on a socializing pace but we, my family and I, were all able to head up to Diego to visit my sister and her family throughout the weekend. In all honesty I had no idea what to expect as this was my 1st conference I would be attending.

An agenda to start at 9:30-12:30pm in what you would have expected to be a sunny day was not so shiny. Rain rain go away but that didn’t happen as it was here to stay but this was not to stop me from attending.

I walked into a room with ladies ready to check us in and an even bigger room filled with mothers, some expecting, some with their child, and chandeliers. This was not your typical boot camp running and being screamed at by Sargent’s. LOL.

My table consisted of 6 ladies including myself. Katie @overflowinbrain to my left and Meghan @crazycasak to my right. Intrigued by Shara @palmsandpigs who came down all the way from Charleston had me beat. Thinking my Orange County to San Diego drive was aways to go was definitely no match to Shara whatsoever.

Baby Bloggy Boot Camp was a definite success. I left with a ton of information, met some lovely ladies, including Amy, a blogger at Amy Corbett Storch.  Amy shared her testimony to her successful blog and switching over to now a mommy blogger. Her story was surreal and really authentic. It was such a pleasure meeting her. I have to say it was the highlight for me to speak with her after the event. Amy was definitely down to earth and didn’t mind providing me a few pointers.

Starting my day with this event left me feeling secure that I was meant to do this. With effort, confidence, and most importantly originality this was my brand to perfect. Not being alone as I too was surrounded with many mommy bloggers who were there to strengthen their knowledge.

Take Away

Not only were we able to take home a great deal of information to help out with blogging but we received some awesome take homes as well for our sweet babies. This was definitely a great treat for my little Miss Olivia and I.

The products provided included a Liz Lange maternity dress, honest diapers that included a compact lotion, detergent, and body wash to name a few, and three very well needed products: Ergobaby swaddler, 360 carrier, and wrap carrier. Awesome right?

The Liz Lange dress was a bit large for me but that didn’t stop me from rocking out in it.  This is what happens when you’re socializing, the common sizes are taken. Nonetheless, I went as far as heading down to Target to search for the maternity wear as it can be figure flattering, offering affordable luxury, and did I mention you can locate it at Target too. Although I’m no longer pregnant the selection and styles are awesome.

The honest collection was oh so new to me as it was the 1st time hearing about it at the event. The Eco friendly diapers were just the cutest thing ever. Due to the diapers being a bit big in size for Olivia now; I decided to go on the site in get the right size. It was so nice to see they have a discovery kit which includes your 1st set of 10 stylish diapers & wipes (10 count) at no charge.  The only responsibility you had was shipping and handling cost that may vary depending on where you reside. I fell sooo in love with the diapers that I ordered a bundle.

You too can order your diapers here:

The 360 carrier has been my all time favorite. This piece has been everywhere. Grocery store, pretend city “museum”, park, walking…Let’s just say where hasn’t it been. The wrap carrier and swaddler were very useful items as well.  If it was not for the live tutorial of the wrap carrier, I would have been lost.  Thank you thank you thank you for this demonstration it certainly made things easier.

The products received were all so lovely and now plays a big part in our daily routine duties. Thank you so very much Liz Lange, Honest, Ergobaby, and Sit Girls for the swag bag.  Oh and last but not least thank you to Sugar Wish for the candy during the event.  It was sooo delicious.

Brunch with Tieko: Branding

Early February I attended my 1st event starting off 2014.  Blogging for a year now, I vowed to myself to step out of my comfort zone with attending more events and networking because after all I have too much personality not to socialize, LOL (at least I like to think so).

With writing and fashion being a passion of mine I decided to birth  A platform from which I would be able to meet, collaborate, and network with many talented people.  Spying, interviewing, and bringing positive energy to one source.  Spying on fashion, art, inspiration, bloggers, lifestyle, and everything in between.
Drawn in by the phrase “STOP TREATING YOUR BUSINESS LIKE A HOBBY” spoke to me loud in clear.  For me having a full-time job and family duties to an extent can leave my blog being that hobby when in doubt it’s NOT.
Kicking off my 1st event this year with the perfect agenda “Your Next Step; the Five Stages of a Small Business and Where Branding Fits In” hosted by Tieko Nejon accompanied by Leslie, a blog connoisseur, and Mai, a fitness phenam.  This was definitely an event I could not miss.
In attendance was between 40-50 guests all ready to hear from our host Tieko Nejon.  Held at the Paul Martin’s American Grill in El Segundo, CA, for a small cost of $20 which included brunch and beverage not to mention the great agenda topics from the host.
Meet the host:
She’s simply phenomenal!  A personality like no other who is REAL and not to mention she is a wardrobe and style consultant.
Check her out and you be the judge
Learning many things from marketing and branding, brand platforms, media kits, and facts such as 7/10 people surviving businesses within 2 years and 52% working from home.  Investing, networking, getting serious, doing the work, creating schedules, building clientele/audience, opportunities, and the list goes on.
Many of the topics I have learned about and for me it was pleasing to know, being a new blogger to the scene, it was not foreign but to witness Tieko speak so passionate and break it down with her own visual aspect allowed it to make more awareness.
Hearing it all be put into perspective also by the co-hosts made it more surreal.  From one quitting a job to follow her passion and another being the brand and face of their business.  Two different authentic angles that worked for them and shared giving the attendees a sense of any things possible.  I have to say this was definitely an event you didn’t want to miss if you were in the LA area.
The event was nothing but perfect and although I arrived solo; I ran into some familiar faces I follow on social sites and have formed relationships with Jana’e Holmes ( and Mylah Stanton (  My BLM Sistas which was created by Leslie Young who was one of the co-host.

“I enjoyed the fellowship, the learning, and Tieko’s energy! It was awesome meeting Facebook friends in person.”

“What I enjoyed most was the deep wealth of information that Tieko shared, not only from what she knows through her scholastic background but what she’s learned from first hand experience.  And it was so nice to see the BLM Girls in the house!!!”
“I loved the wealth of information and being surrounded by entrepreneurs. The event made you really think about your brand and how to be successful. I loved every minute! Especially seeing you!” 😊 (I’m blushing)
Here are a few pictures I was able to capture before having to head out.

Small Business Saturday

Spaliday Boutique

Today marks the first day I supported Small Business Saturday.  What is this you ask?  Welp, its a day founded by American Express approximately 3 years ago to support small businesses during the busiest shopping season.  A day that would allow our local small businesses to get plenty of exposure. This new found day (I was made aware of) is the first Saturday after Thanksgiving from which it sits between Black Friday followed by Cyber Monday.

A current BLMGirl (Bloggers Like Me) Kimberly Marie had sent a mass email to the girls to review and RSVP if we were interested.  To my surprise it was right up my alley as it was being held in Long Beach, CA from which I once resided prior to moving to the Orange County area.  I mean I was only born here so this was the perfect experience to contribute and support the Small Business in my previous community.

This day started pretty mellow but of course it ended up with many obstacles.  Prior to the event I had asked my BFF/cousin to attend with me but as confirmed things happen and she was faced with her priority duties first..being a mom.  So I had to enjoy this day solo while my boyfriend (hubby I like to call him) watched our son.  I had originally thought I would be punctual for once and get their at 11am as the event was help from 11-4pm in Long Beach, CA (5500 East Atherton St. Ste 204 to be exact).    Now luckily I made it before the event was over but it was literally 20 minutes prior.  However, I still found myself spending a lil over $50 along with having the opportunity to speak with all the wonderful ladies including the sponsors that attended.  Yes, that’s right their were sponsors.  Although the late arrival occurred (shame on meeh); I was able to spend almost a full hr with these women.

Spaliday Boutique was held at Skin So Fancy Body Boutique by Tiffany Carmona, licensed esthetician, who specializes in makeup & waxing.  Tiffany was so full of energy.  Her personality was more than inviting and provided you a nice feel of welcome.  I had to of course experience her specialty so I decided to get my brows waxed.  I have to admit she gave me some good pointers as well with the upkeep of perfect brows.  They came out really nice!

Some of the  Fabulous sponsors I mentioned were:

Natural bath & Body care and Mini Cupcakes by Lakia Pearson.  Lakia was very pleasant and knowledgeable of her product.  It was nice to see Lakia’s support system by her side as well.  Lakia states “You’ll find they have a heart for service, a strong commitment to offering exceptional products and there apart of a team that believes in encouraging you” with her contribution in body care.  I didn’t get a chance to sample Lakia’s mini treats but I’m sure they were made to perfection.

Handbags/clutches (fearfully made “Head to Sole Apparel) by Coco.  Coco is your personal fashionista who will bring business to you with events such as purse parties and or even offers to assist with personal shopping for the busy individuals who do not have the time and or if your resources are limited.  As Coco would say “YOU are FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY MADE.

Jewelry/Accessories by Kimberly Marie.  Multi talented Kimberly Marie, NOT only specializes in jewelry/accessories but she is a former BLMGirl and graphic Designer of Her name is Kim.  Kim has soo much character, you would hate to depart from her.  Her bubbly/joyous personality is such a delight.  Kim’s talent caused me to spend about $45 but they are nice crafted/needed pieces.  Thanks Kim, it’s always a pleasure running and supporting you as it is to all the other women as well.

Remy Hair/Clip-ins was also present as well.  Vixenous mission is “To bring high-quality, virgin, Remy hair to their customers at affordable prices.”  In speaking with this wonderful woman; she too was very knowledgeable with her product and stood proudly talking about the way you would sew in a track, LOL.  I found this information to be good as I also wear weaves and find that it is less maintenance and why not ask the professional who specializes in extensions.

All of the ladies were very pleased with the outcome and made mention of having something again very soon.  I pleaded to the girls, this being a GREAT idea, as I would then be able to be punctual and spend more time in support of their craft/talent.  Please feel free to reach out to the ladies and let them know uniikleemeeh (unique-lee-me) or eyespyfashion made mention of them and you are showing your support as well.  From there you will then be connected to their social networks.  I recommend for you to meet this group of women who are full of LIfe and very down to earth.
