Baby Bloggy Boot Camp

This post is written by me on behalf of Liz Lange and Ergobaby.  Product was provided.

Eye spy an event that had been posted on Facebook about expecting moms and moms w/ children under the age of 6 months to attend Baby Bloggy Boot Camp. An instant email went out to the SIT GIRLS for more deets.

A mother of 2 now with the newest addition at the time being 2 months; I figured this was the perfect event to continue with my networking and socializing for 2014. Not to mention the event hitting home run; Baby Bloggy Boot Camp touched on many topics from creating compelling content for moms, tips on sponsorship(s), and becoming a mommy blogger.  Great topics, right!  I thought so. I mean I am a mommy and a blogger.

Baby BBC

Baby Bloggy Boot Camp was held in San Diego, Ca, at the Bahia Resort Hotel February 28th. bahiaNot only was this a perfect opportunity to keep on a socializing pace but we, my family and I, were all able to head up to Diego to visit my sister and her family throughout the weekend. In all honesty I had no idea what to expect as this was my 1st conference I would be attending.

An agenda to start at 9:30-12:30pm in what you would have expected to be a sunny day was not so shiny. Rain rain go away but that didn’t happen as it was here to stay but this was not to stop me from attending.

I walked into a room with ladies ready to check us in and an even bigger room filled with mothers, some expecting, some with their child, and chandeliers. This was not your typical boot camp running and being screamed at by Sargent’s. LOL.

My table consisted of 6 ladies including myself. Katie @overflowinbrain to my left and Meghan @crazycasak to my right. Intrigued by Shara @palmsandpigs who came down all the way from Charleston had me beat. Thinking my Orange County to San Diego drive was aways to go was definitely no match to Shara whatsoever.

Baby Bloggy Boot Camp was a definite success. I left with a ton of information, met some lovely ladies, including Amy, a blogger at Amy Corbett Storch.  Amy shared her testimony to her successful blog and switching over to now a mommy blogger. Her story was surreal and really authentic. It was such a pleasure meeting her. I have to say it was the highlight for me to speak with her after the event. Amy was definitely down to earth and didn’t mind providing me a few pointers.

Starting my day with this event left me feeling secure that I was meant to do this. With effort, confidence, and most importantly originality this was my brand to perfect. Not being alone as I too was surrounded with many mommy bloggers who were there to strengthen their knowledge.

Take Away

Not only were we able to take home a great deal of information to help out with blogging but we received some awesome take homes as well for our sweet babies. This was definitely a great treat for my little Miss Olivia and I.

The products provided included a Liz Lange maternity dress, honest diapers that included a compact lotion, detergent, and body wash to name a few, and three very well needed products: Ergobaby swaddler, 360 carrier, and wrap carrier. Awesome right?

The Liz Lange dress was a bit large for me but that didn’t stop me from rocking out in it.  This is what happens when you’re socializing, the common sizes are taken. Nonetheless, I went as far as heading down to Target to search for the maternity wear as it can be figure flattering, offering affordable luxury, and did I mention you can locate it at Target too. Although I’m no longer pregnant the selection and styles are awesome.

The honest collection was oh so new to me as it was the 1st time hearing about it at the event. The Eco friendly diapers were just the cutest thing ever. Due to the diapers being a bit big in size for Olivia now; I decided to go on the site in get the right size. It was so nice to see they have a discovery kit which includes your 1st set of 10 stylish diapers & wipes (10 count) at no charge.  The only responsibility you had was shipping and handling cost that may vary depending on where you reside. I fell sooo in love with the diapers that I ordered a bundle.

You too can order your diapers here:

The 360 carrier has been my all time favorite. This piece has been everywhere. Grocery store, pretend city “museum”, park, walking…Let’s just say where hasn’t it been. The wrap carrier and swaddler were very useful items as well.  If it was not for the live tutorial of the wrap carrier, I would have been lost.  Thank you thank you thank you for this demonstration it certainly made things easier.

The products received were all so lovely and now plays a big part in our daily routine duties. Thank you so very much Liz Lange, Honest, Ergobaby, and Sit Girls for the swag bag.  Oh and last but not least thank you to Sugar Wish for the candy during the event.  It was sooo delicious.

Please view the listed sites below:  These are a few of the ladies I was able to come in contact with.

It was such a pleasure ladies!

Have you tried any of these products?  What did you think?  Do you have a favorite?  Do share below.  Thank you for stopping by.

I repeat This post is written by me on behalf of Liz Lange and Ergobaby.  Product was provided.

Thanks for stopping by!

Brunch with Tieko: Branding

Early February I attended my 1st event starting off 2014.  Blogging for a year now, I vowed to myself to step out of my comfort zone with attending more events and networking because after all I have too much personality not to socialize, LOL (at least I like to think so).

With writing and fashion being a passion of mine I decided to birth  A platform from which I would be able to meet, collaborate, and network with many talented people.  Spying, interviewing, and bringing positive energy to one source.  Spying on fashion, art, inspiration, bloggers, lifestyle, and everything in between.
Drawn in by the phrase “STOP TREATING YOUR BUSINESS LIKE A HOBBY” spoke to me loud in clear.  For me having a full-time job and family duties to an extent can leave my blog being that hobby when in doubt it’s NOT.
Kicking off my 1st event this year with the perfect agenda “Your Next Step; the Five Stages of a Small Business and Where Branding Fits In” hosted by Tieko Nejon accompanied by Leslie, a blog connoisseur, and Mai, a fitness phenam.  This was definitely an event I could not miss.
In attendance was between 40-50 guests all ready to hear from our host Tieko Nejon.  Held at the Paul Martin’s American Grill in El Segundo, CA, for a small cost of $20 which included brunch and beverage not to mention the great agenda topics from the host.
Meet the host:
She’s simply phenomenal!  A personality like no other who is REAL and not to mention she is a wardrobe and style consultant.
Check her out and you be the judge
Learning many things from marketing and branding, brand platforms, media kits, and facts such as 7/10 people surviving businesses within 2 years and 52% working from home.  Investing, networking, getting serious, doing the work, creating schedules, building clientele/audience, opportunities, and the list goes on.
Many of the topics I have learned about and for me it was pleasing to know, being a new blogger to the scene, it was not foreign but to witness Tieko speak so passionate and break it down with her own visual aspect allowed it to make more awareness.
Hearing it all be put into perspective also by the co-hosts made it more surreal.  From one quitting a job to follow her passion and another being the brand and face of their business.  Two different authentic angles that worked for them and shared giving the attendees a sense of any things possible.  I have to say this was definitely an event you didn’t want to miss if you were in the LA area.
The event was nothing but perfect and although I arrived solo; I ran into some familiar faces I follow on social sites and have formed relationships with Jana’e Holmes ( and Mylah Stanton (  My BLM Sistas which was created by Leslie Young who was one of the co-host.

“I enjoyed the fellowship, the learning, and Tieko’s energy! It was awesome meeting Facebook friends in person.”

“What I enjoyed most was the deep wealth of information that Tieko shared, not only from what she knows through her scholastic background but what she’s learned from first hand experience.  And it was so nice to see the BLM Girls in the house!!!”
“I loved the wealth of information and being surrounded by entrepreneurs. The event made you really think about your brand and how to be successful. I loved every minute! Especially seeing you!” 😊 (I’m blushing)
Here are a few pictures I was able to capture before having to head out.

Valentine’s Day occurs everyday: Real Love

It is officially VALENTINE’S DAY.  Happy Valentines Day to ALL whether you are celebrating it with a significant other, friend, or alone make the best of it.  “No matter how dark the moment, love and hope are always possible,” George Chakiris.
Now while we like to get excited on this 1/365th day, we need to be mindful that love should occur everyday and by everyday no matter what.  It’s the little things that matters.  Don’t get me wrong I do get it.  You like all the gifts and pleasing this one day creates and demonstrates in addition to the exchanges in the gifts but why can’t this also occur February 15th, 16th, or everyday?
With love in the air I would like to ask, What does love mean to you?  How does one keep love fresh?  What is the secret to longevity?  Is love sacrificed for happiness and or vice versa?  These are a few questions I asked a few couples randomly.
Shakita & Kendrick
Shakita & Kendrick have been together since high school and this April will mark seven years of the 2 being together.
“Love is truly something that can’t be put into words. I have always thought of myself to be a romantic, believing that love conquers all. Love means everything to me. When I first fell in love with my fiancé, it really was the most amazing experience & still is today. Just to have someone to confide in and someone who sometimes knows you better than you know yourself. It’s something that’s truly priceless and I’m glad to have a REAL love in my life. To sum it up with a quote “I have found the one whom my soul loves.”  says Shakita.
“I keep love fresh by simply waking up every morning with a “Lets Do What We Did Back In High School” type of attitude. As soon as I wake up every morning, I immediately want to start a conversation with Shakita, no matter how bad my morning breath is or how sleepy she may be even though I know it gets on her nerves. Lol!” Admitted Kendrick.
Kendrick continued by saying, “I usually work overnight, so whenever I get off in the morning time and finally make it home, I’ll tell her simple things like what happened at work or what my schedule is going to be like the next week just to hear her voice. Every time we go out on a date, I anticipate them with excitement like it’s our first. I still write little love letters to her expressing how I feel about her, how happy I am of her accomplishments, etc. We workout together and learn new things together. I think it makes our bond stronger in a way.”
Sealing  the deal with marriage this May, Shakita and her fiancé Kendrick also share Valentine’s Day as the day they got engaged.
Chanea & Ejuan Banks
Married for 5 years with 2 kids Caden and Hailee

“Love isn’t one big thing it is a million little things….Love is unconditional, respect, trust, along with give and take.  Love is when you can accept a person with all their imperfections and nonetheless you still see their perfections.  Love is when you make each other laugh at the silliest things that no one else would ever understand.  Love is a beautiful thing when you share it with the right person.” Mr. & Mrs. Banks stated.

“The secret to our longevity is clear communication, compromise and friendship.  Becoming a stronger bond through every curveball life throws us and putting God first in all that we do,” replied the Banks.

Leia & Nile Mashaka

Married for 4 years together with 2 children Eli and Micah

“Love is patience, time, understanding, forgiving, evolving, undefined, and in the biblical sense agape love…love everlasting. Love should accomplish 2 things: happiness and growth both individually and together. It’s inspiring, to always want more, for each other and with each other.” says Leia.

Nile continued, “Love is never sacrificed for happiness because love is happiness. There are compromises, but that’s not a sacrifice.

Love is a beautiful thing whether you are loving something and or someone.  Real love is not only celebrated on February 14th.  So while the chocolate, flowers, and candlelight dinner may be in reservation it’s an ongoing treatment that never ends.

Romance, humor, joy, compatibility, trust, respect, caring, tenderness, or patience all contributes to happy love and this we just witnessed above.

Shakita, Kendrick, Chanea, Ejuan, Leia, and Nile I wish you ALL a Happy Valentines Day yesterday today, tomorrow, or simply whenever you decide to celebrate.

Thank you for sharing.

Sending a special shout out to the loves of my life Oscar, Elijah, and Olivia.  Happy Valentine’s!

Will today be like every other day or does it mark for a special occasion?

Love for the Kids

February is right around the corner and as we know this is the month to celebrate LOVE, although that should go without saying on a daily basis and Black History Month.

Well, while couples celebrate each other and kids bring Valentine Day cards to class mates and teachers.  In my house hold my kids are a bit to small and will have the chance to spend it right here with mom while I am still on maternity leave.

The excitement I have to spend this time with my kids excites me as anyone that knows me understands that I am a hard worker and go getter when it comes to my family and precious moments such as these are what I live for.

While I share these days with my son who is 2 1/2 years old and new-born daughter who is now a little over a month old; I will be partaking in kind words for the month of February.

This idea I have to say didn’t come from me and was found spying on social media (INSTAGRAM) but here are the deets.

eyespy a heart

As seen in the image above I will be leaving daily notes on the kid’s bedroom door expressing my love for them.

What will your son, daughter, or children be doing for VALENTINES Day or better yet.. What will you be doing for your children?  Do you have any traditions you follow during Valentine’s Day?

Fashion approvals have been definitely making an appearance on Instagram.

Check out the latest:

Fashionnextdoor is killing the holiday look!

eyespfashiondotcom: @fashionnextdoor what are the must haves for the holidays… A girl can not go without?

Fashionnextdoor: awwww thanks!  Well, my holiday must haves is a spectacular statement necklace.  Put it on with anything and you’re instantly holiday ready!

eyespyfashiondotcom: @whatthabiwears describe your style?  Who are your top 3 girl crushes?  Who is @whatthabiwears?

Whatthabiwears: My style is eclectic, with an urban flavor often classic- on trend- with a vintage twist.  I LOVE pieces and accessories that stand out, a statement piece is a must in every ensemble.  I hate looking like everyone else 🙂 Thandie Newton, Kelly Rowland, and Eva Mendez are my 3 top girl crushes.

Currently living and working in Moscow, you can learn more about this fashionista @ which she does confirm being a on screen journal.  Do subscribe!

eyespyfashiondotcom: Who inspires @dezoffril?  What does style mean to you?  Who is @dezoffril?

Dezoffril: Everyone inspires me!  Street style is probably my biggest inspiration overall.  So many people have different perspectives, it’s amazing the creativity there is out there and I absolutely love it!  It inspires me to be creative and see what I can do with pieces most people wouldn’t wear because isn’t the “norm”.  Style is art and art is who you are.  There is no wrong or right, only confidence.  Anyone can have a style of anything but confidence is what really makes  it a STYLE.  I am just an up and coming fashion blogger wanting to share what I come up with to inspire others.  When I’m not blogging, I LOVE being with my dogs and catching up on my favorite shows.

eyespyfashiondotcom: What are 3 things a girl must have in her closet?  Who inspires you?  Who is @chanelfiles?

Chanelfiles: Thanks for the questions!  3 things every girl should have in her wardrobe is a great pair of nude or black pumps (I prefer a pointy toe).  A great staple tote that can be taken into every season & a watch.  A watch is a simple yet chic accessory.  My style is definitely a mix of June Ambrose meets Carrie Bradshaw w/ a hint of Blaire Adiebee!  Chanelfiles is a girl on the go who’s inspired by classic pieces with hints of spunk & character.  A personal style blog created for the everyday girl and woman who loves herself almost as much as she loves her clothes, LOL.

eyespyfashiondotcom: What does fashion mean to you @ministerofstyle?  Tell us something we may not know from looking at this picture?

Ministerofstyle: Wow…. thank you!  I’m kinda speechless right now, LOL.  I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember and for me, fashion is the art of presenting a vision of what someone sees clothing to be.  Style is the way each person interprets that vision.  I’m really quirky and will probably shock most people once they get to know me.  I have a wicked sense of humor!

Weekday, weekend, and or holiday every girl should get up, get dressed, and feel pretty.  As mentioned by Fashionnextdoor you can not go wrong with a statement necklace no matter the occasion.  Many of us may share the same similarities in our closet but it’s still all different when everything is said and done as one eye may be different then the next.  Style is what you make it in feeling comfortable in your own skin.  It’s the confidence that makes that outfit that much better!  It’s not what you wear but how you wear it or better yet you wear the clothes, don’t allow the clothes to wear you!

These women are phenomenal and as you can see they all share the same similarities with understanding the concept of accessorizing, having confidence, and most importantly being true to themselves… The art of fashion!

Now if you should find any #EyeSpyFashionApprove moments tag me on InStaGram @eyespyfashiondotcom and or Nika Marie on FB.
